LOT winter school 2005
From January 17 to 21 2005 I taught a practical introduction to acoustic phonetics at the LOT winter school in Groningen. For an abstract of the contents, follow this link to the LOT winter school 2005 site.
I've now (24-01-05) posted most of the material used in class below, including sound files, and the script that we were writing in class on Jan 21 when the power supply to the lab was cut off.
A few brief notes on the material posted here:
- Update (27-01-05): I've just been reminded that Microsoft Internet Explorer (sometimes?) unpacks a gzipped file automatically on downloading it. Without removing the .gz suffix, which can be confusing. So I've replaced all original .gz files with zip archives, which should not cause any problems. Use 7zip or the far less nice but popular Winzip for unpacking zip files on Windows. But perhaps you should consider a better web browser anyway if you're still on IE...
- The slide shows (1-up as well as 'printer-friendly' 4-up versions) are PDF files.
- These slide shows were created with PDFLaTeX and PPower4 rather than a WYSIWYG presentation package such as MS-PowerPoint. If you'd like to reuse some of the material included in these files, you can download the zip archives referred to as source material. These archives contain a .tex source file as well as all external graphics files in EPS and PDF formats
