Prof Tester had 2 daughters, the elder had good education and became a governess, the younger (who later married Alexander) became a maid in the same house as her sister and had to wait on her as well as the family. They found another situation and Alexander ran all the way behind the carriage. After this ? Tester who had snubbed his advances decided to marry him. The sister then got a situation in Npton and obtained work for her brother in law as a carpenter. So they sold up and came to the town. He got work on building the tunnel for the Railway ? The day they came back the small pox epidemic was on.
